В отличие от частного законопроекта [ private bill] касается вопроса общественного значения. В Палате представителей [ House of Representatives] любые законопроекты вносятся в письменном виде: конгрессмены должны опускать их в специальный ящик ["hopper"]. Законопроекты нумеруются в порядке поступления. Они регистрируются, получают порядковый номер и индекс "HR". В Сенате законопроекты вносятся устно, получают порядковый номер и индекс "S". Каждый законопроект проходит в палате три чтения, после принятия в палате получает наименование "чистового экземпляра законопроекта" [ engrossed bill], а после утверждения в Сенате, в переписанном на пергаменте виде, называется "закон, готовый к подписанию" [ enrolled bill]English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > public bill
